[Update: APK available] Giphy publishes beta 'Cam' app on Play Store, increasing your meme efficiency by 1000%

  • Update 1: 2016/10/03 10:09pm PDT
The Play Store listing was taken down shortly after this post went live, but never fear, we have mirrored the APK for your enjoyment over at APKMirror. The APK

Giphy is one of the most popular repositories of GIFs on the web, and the site has published their newest app to the Play Store - Giphy Cam. The application allows you to either record video from your camera, or shoot five images in burst mode. Once your content is recorded, you can apply all the effects and stickers your heart desires. The app description states that Giphy plans to add new filters weekly, "to help you keep your GIF game on point."

The TNG filter is fantastic.

Once you finish your creation, you can share it directly to Facebook Messenger, Twitter, Instagram, or your SMS application. You can also export it to either a GIF or MP4 video, for uploading later.

The app is marked as unreleased on the Google Play Store, meaning it's not quite ready for the prime time. Giphy Cam managed to completely freeze my phone while I was trying to use to export a GIF, but that was the only issue I encountered. Once Giphy works out all the bugs, and allows you to import video files, this will be a fun app to play with.
